CBC Documentary Features Masters Swimming

A CBC documentary will air this week featuring MSABC swimmer Gilles Beaudin at the 2012 Canadian Masters Swimming Championships in Kelowna, as part of an examination of the Baby Boomer generation. Bruce Mohun, another MSABC member is behind the film: his company, Dreamfilm, produced it. Don't miss it!

Summary:
In the 60’s, baby boomers changed the world. In their 60s, they just may do it again.
Once known as the generation that questioned authority, raised its consciousness, and dropped out of the mainstream, the baby boom generation now IS the mainstream. Boomers make up 30% of the Canadian population - more than 10 million people altogether, most in their 50s and 60s.
That means we're in for another big shift: the largest, wealthiest generation in our history is hitting what used to be called "The Golden Years"... at the same time that life expectancy has gone up, by more than thirty years in the last century.
What will all those baby boomers do with all those extra years?  Aging and retirement will never be the same again.

Video: Brent Hayden 100m Free at Olympic Trials sponsored by MSC - 100 libre commandité par MNC aux essais olympiques

 "MSC is proud to have sponsored the 100m freestyle event at the 2012 Canadian Olympic Swimming Trials, and on behalf of all Canadian Masters swimmers, I congratulate Brent Hayden on his bronze medal performance in the 100m free in London," says Nancy Black, Executive Director of Masters Swimming Canada. "His tremendous swim will inspire our entire community from age 18 to 99 and up, and encourage new swimmers of all ability levels to join us."

Watch the race in this video, and MSC Executive Director Nancy Black presents the gold medal to Brent Hayden.

Quebec's Eugene Lehman passes away

Canada's second oldest Masters swimmer, Eugene Lehman (MPC), passed away December 15 at age 98. He has held many Quebec and Canadian records and will be mourned by many in the swimming community.

Technosport's Genevieve Mackwood swam the 17.5 mile Ederle swim in New York in 2011. In this article on the MSO web site, learn about:
